Hello,

Some corrections are faster, some are only possible, to do in the HTML Editor than in the wysiwyg editor.

Could you add an HTML Editor icon on top of the blocks where HTML is accessible?
On the same line that Edit/Up/Down/Delete small icons.

If you think it is too technical for most users, add an option in the settings and disable it by default.

Thanks a lot.

Which widgets do you have in mind?

Seems there is only Rich Text that gives access to its HTML.

Yes. You're asking for HTML access to some others widgets. So which are they and why?

At first I thougth there was more widgets with an HTML editor, it was my first demand.
After your question, I verified and only RT is with one.

Only RT would already be great, because it is in RT where you can have complex layouts/items... that sometimes must be corrected.

It's just a tiny shortcut to directly open the editor, edit in html only, not in wysiwyg, and close to see immediately the result.

Now, others might be the text widgets, where some additional styles might be added after a paste.
Perhaps 'all', with the goal to make a fast find/replace in html for example.

This gives me some ideas.

Perhaps you can use tiny_mce to make a No-Wysiwyg/Poor-HTML-editor with, no style, just few tools: find/replace (with regex), highlight (){}[] pairs colored syntax, syntax checking... you get the idea.

Another simpler solution would be to use an external programmer editor either online or on local PC.
Online, like in Google Documents.

If the problem for the external is the update/save... put the file on the web site server while editing.
Of course that editor must be FTP capable.
Perhaps on local computer HD, but don't know if it is possible for security reasons.

If an external editor is used, ImPg can then offer a friendly interface showing files like main.php, site.css, ip_content.css, etc to directly edit them with this external editor.

Just ideas :-)

Thanks

One more question. You would like just improve wysiwyg editor in all widgets or you would like to change the resulting HTML of the widget?

Just the HTML editor, not all the wysiwyg tiny_mce which is ok.

The HTML editor because it is faster in html to correct editor's mistakes.
Just syntax coloring and (){} highlight would be enough.

That is not at all a priority for IPS, there are more important things to do.
Now I can use an external editor.

Thanks :-)

This perhaps is the solution for one day...

http://shjs.sourceforge.net/

SHJS is a JavaScript program which highlights source code passages in HTML documents. Documents using SHJS are highlighted on the client side by the web browser.
