There is one very important reason why we did that. "Text" widget and "Table" widget have different paste algorithms.
"Table" widget accept paste of tables. When you paste table copied from another resources, that table is transformed into your website styles.
"Text" widget is used for text. So if you paste ugly HTML where tables are used to make spaces between paragraphs or instead of H1 H2 H3 tags, then that messy tables are removed from content.

So then the table widget disables the use of H1 H2 H3 tags styles - is that it?
"Table" widget accept paste of tables. When you paste table copied from another resources, . . . "
Does this include pasting tables from MS Word?
Lastly, whatever the addition functions that the Table widget brings to IP, it can not be fully understood if there is no documentation on how it works and its benefits.

In both widgets H1 H2 H3 tags are transformed into bold.
Difference is in <table> tag. Only "Table" widget accept <table> tag. Text widget remove all tables from content.

So let see if understand this correctly, the Table widget preserves table tags from other resources - correct?
If you use the HTML source editor within the Text widget, does the Text widget preserve the table tags that are being paste from another source?

Yes Caps wrote: If you use the HTML source editor within the Text widget, does the Text widget preserve the table tags that are being paste from another source? Text widget doesn't have HTML source editing.

Text widget will clean out table tags inserted with HTML source tool of TinyMCE. But you can change that behavioral if you know how to configure TinyMCE and follow instructions: http://docs.impresspages.org/en/left/co ... ion-files/

If you will paste excel table to "Table" widget, you will get styled table. If you paste it to "Text" widget, you will get plain text with bold links etc.
