Follow these steps to update your ImpressPages installation:

1. Backup all your files and database before starting the update process
2. Upload "update" folder to website root directory (replace if it already exists)
3. Point your browser to "update" directory
4. Follow the instructions
5. Remove "update" directory for security reasons

Which version can I update?

You can update from any version 1.0.X to the latest of 1.0.X. branch and from 2.0rc1 to the latest 2.X branch.

How the update works?

Update process replace old files with new ones and updates the database. If you will update from very old installation some small changes to folder structure and theme files will be applied. Update script can't change files. It just tells what to do, how replace old files with new ones. Database is updated automatically. No manual changes to the database are required.

How to make a backup of my website?

Some hosting providers have tools to create a backup. If they don't you can do that manually by downloading all files and exporting the database using phpMyAdmin.

I have changed some core files. Will the update work?

If you haven't changed the structure of the database your changes will be overwritten during the update. If you need those changes you need to monitor them by your self.
