In the admin Catalogue -> Items (Edit Item) There is no field to add the photo! I had to do this via phpMyAdmin. Impress Pages 1.0.8

Also the categories/ Subcategories and items dont apear in the site map unless I am missing something?

For Google sitemap:
Developer -> Modules config -> Standard -> Configuration -> Advanced options -> XML sitemap associated zones
For website sitemap:
Developer -> Modules config -> Administrator -> Sitemap -> Options -> Associated zones
In both cases add your catalog zone in the new line
